The Law of Attraction (Forgiveness)

Has anyone ever done something bad to you? Most people have had an experience where someone they trusted has betrayed them or hurt them. How do we usually respond to that hurt and betrayal? Most of the time, when we are hurt by someone, we respond with resentment and anger. We hold onto resentment with a righteous that we keep burning inside ourselves as if it will save us from being hurt again.

What is Forgiveness?

The bible says, “Forgive and ye shall be forgiven.” Forgiveness is a change in our perception that removes a block from our awareness. We are surrounded by love. It is all around us. But when we hold onto anger and resentment, we cannot see or feel that love.

When we can let go of all the resentment we feel for others, we free up so much energy that we had used making our vibration low and clouded. Forgiveness lifts us instantly out of a place where we might be stuck, and allows us to refocus our attention on what matters, our goals and dreams, rather than holding onto what someone else did to us that makes us unable to attain those goals.

The Hot Coal

What happens when we do not forgive? We hurt ourselves. We eat ourselves up inside all the while intending the same pain for the other person. When we resent others, who does it really hurt? The other person might be off having a great time, unaware of our burning anger toward them, all the while we are burning up inside.

The Buddha said that to not forgive is like holding onto hot coals that we intend to throw at the person we resent. No matter if we get to throw the coals or not, we will inevitably burn ourselves the most.

Forgiving Ourselves

Maybe you feel really guilty about something, and you keep thinking about it because you think that if you don't continuously dwell on it you are not adequately sorry for what you have done. This couldn't be father from the truth. Whatever we focus on increases, so if we focus on what we are ashamed about, not only do we increase shame, we increase the likelihood of repeating the mistake.

Not that we should not take responsibility for our mistakes, but we must first acknowledge our mistakes, take note of what we have done and how we could do better, and then let go. We must forgive ourselves.

When we hold on to shame, we can literally make ourselves ill. Many doctors believe that tumors and cancers can be attributed to holding onto toxic shame. If there is something in your life that you are ashamed about, acknowledge that you know better now, and let go. Forgive yourself today.

The Magic of Forgiveness

Of all the universal laws, the law of forgiveness is the most liberating, the most freeing of all. If our goal is freedom, the simple act of forgiveness will free us instantaneously, and is completely within our power, right now, today.

Forgiveness is a very important part of healing. I think shame can result in health issues and disease and thank you for pointing this out!

My best friend heard this from a priest once and it stands to reason this helped her to forgive. These are 6 simple words that carry a message of forgiveness. " Love The Man, Hate the Sin ".

That put everything in prespective and the toxic anger that has ruled her life has dissappeared.

The Nature has an unbridled principle of action and reaction. Does it not forbid us from forgiving someone for a misdeed? Just a curiosity, with my understanding of forgiveness as a precious humane characteristic.

The principle is not to hold on to resentment that hurts only you. Forgiveness is not about the other person, it is about yourself.

Mahatma Gandhi, Indian political and spiritual leader, once quoted “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.” This quote says to us that forgiveness is the attitude of the strong people , and the weak or negative people, who are low-esteem can't forgive.
